Workshop Theme - “Fugues: Flourishing under Oppression”

Glen will show the creative possibilities of composition, while adhering to the strict rules of fugues, which are his favorite type of music. He will distribute a handout that breaks fugues down into their obligatory as well as optional components, and we’d play excerpts to illustrate those components, the underlying compositional techniques employed, etc., as well as lots of complete fugues by Glen Shannon, Bach, Berlioz, Brahms, Vivaldi and Handel.
